How To Make Box Brownies Without An Oven?

A boxed brownie is a type of dessert that is made by baking a brownie mix in an oven. However, making these desserts without an oven can be challenging.

If you don’t have an oven or it’s too hot to bake something, you can still make delicious brownies without one. In this article, I will teach you how to make boxed brownies without an oven.

Brownies are a favorite dessert for many people. They have a rich, chocolatey flavor and are perfect for any occasion.

But it can be hard to make brownies from scratch if you don’t have an oven. So here are some alternative methods you can use to make brownies without an oven.

How To Make Box Brownies Without An Oven

1. Brownies Made In The Microwave

The microwave is an excellent alternative to an oven when you need to make brownies quickly and easily.

These microwave brownies are great if you just need a fast dessert for four and you don’t want to use a mug for your brownies.

Microwave brownies are famous because they don’t leave you with a tray full of brownies to eat! I’ll show you how to make these brownies in a few easy steps. To make them:

  1. Mix 3 tablespoons sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, and 1½ tablespoons cocoa powder.
  2. Put 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips in the mixture.
  3. Mix 1½ tablespoons coconut oil, 3 tablespoons milk, and 1¼ teaspoons vanilla extract into the mixture.
  4. Stir just enough to mix. Microwave for about 90 seconds on high with a few more chocolate chips sprinkled on top. That’s all there is to it!

Sprinkle with powdered sugar or whipped cream…or serve with ice cream. It takes under five minutes to prepare these brownies, so you can satisfy your chocolate craving in no time.

2. Brownies Baked On The Stovetop

Stovetop brownies are another great choice when you don’t want to bake in the oven. On a hot summer day, cooking on a stovetop produces considerably less heat.

The camping stove is also a great way to enjoy brownies while camping – just turn on the stove, and you are good to go. The brownies are baked using steam on the stovetop.

Next, the brownies will be steamed slowly in a large saucepan used as a water bath. It will take longer to prepare brownies this way than in the oven, so if you’re rushing, be prepared to wait.

This method makes brownies remain moist and chewy in the middle while firmly cooked around the edges. Obtain an 8×8 baking pan that fits a deep and wide saucepan before making brownie batter.

Fill the saucepan with just enough water to reach just over the plate, then place the plate upside down in it. Simmer the water for a few minutes. Prepare the brownie batter and pour it into a greased 8 x 8 baking pan.

The saucepan should have just enough simmering water to cover the bottom of the cake pan. Set the cake pan on the upturned plate carefully.

Approximately 90 minutes will be enough time to steam brownies, but if the water starts to evaporate, you’ll need to top it off.

Let the brownies cool completely before removing them from the pan with oven mitts once they are set. Without the oven, this method of baking brownies makes for a really moist cake that freezes well.

3. Brownies In The Slow Cooker

Using a slow cooker is similar to using a pressure cooker to make brownies without an oven. Using parchment paper as a liner in the slow cooker will allow you to make brownies without a pan.

Slow cookers are handy when I want to serve brownies for dessert, but I’m already using the oven for baking the main dish. Ensure that your brownie batter is well incorporated, avoiding overmixing; otherwise, you may end up with tough brownies.

The next step is to prepare the slow cooker: form a coil of aluminum foil to line the inside of the cooker, so the brownie edges don’t burn. Put parchment paper on the bottom and sides of the slow cooker after spraying it with cooking spray.

After spraying the parchment paper with cooking spray, remove it from the oven. Into the cooker, fold the brownie batter and spread it evenly. Approximately 4.5 to 5 hours should be sufficient for the recipe to cook on the low setting.

As soon as the brownie edges are set, the middle will still be gooey in the middle. Use the parchment paper as handles to remove the entire cake from the slow cooker. I serve it with whipped cream and fresh strawberries when mine has cooled completely.

The time it takes to make a recipe in a slow cooker without using your oven may be a few hours. You can just turn the cooker on and forget about your brownies until they’re ready once you have the batter in them.

4. Brownies Made In The Pressure Cooker/Instant Pot

Pressure cookers and instant pots have become increasingly popular in the past few years. But did you know you can make delicious brownies with them?

This method produces incredibly moist brownies, rich and dense with chocolate flavor, without the need for an oven.

Unlike traditional brownies baked in the oven, pressure cooker brownies are chewier and fudgier, so chocolate lovers will enjoy these.

A round baking pan that fits inside a pressure cooker is an excellent option when cooking brownies in one. The 7-inch pan on Amazon is ideal if you own an instant pot. Make sure you get the right pot by measuring the inside.

These insert pans are included with some instant pot models. You may use the “cake” setting on your cooker if it has that setting. Otherwise, you may use the “normal” setting and follow your cooker’s cooking instructions.

Here is how I make my favorite brownies using my pressure cooker. First, in a mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Next, add wet ingredients, stirring only to combine.

Ensure your bowl fits inside the cooker by greasing it with aluminum or stainless steel. Put the brownie mix in the pan, spreading it evenly. Wrap the aluminum foil around the bowl.

Place a trivet inside the pressure cooker and pour 1 cup of water into it. Set the pressure cooker on top of the trivet and attach the cover. If you want your brownies moist and fudgy, cook them for 10 to 15 minutes.

Using a pressure cooker, carefully remove the bowl. To enhance the intensity of the chocolate flavor, I like to top pressure cooker brownies with vanilla ice cream and drizzle them with dark chocolate syrup while they’re still warm.

5. Brownies That Don’t Require Baking

The popularity of no-bake treats is on the rise right now. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl – they’re easy to make. No oven or other appliance needs to be heated, so you’ll save energy.

Graham cracker crumbs, chopped walnuts, sweetened condensed milk, and chocolate squares are the only ingredients in my favorite no-bake recipe. To add a bit more sweetness to the brownie, I use semi-sweet chocolate instead of dark.

Grease a baking sheet or pan with baking spray. Line with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Before pressing the mixture into the pan, melt the chocolate squares and mix with the remaining ingredients. Allow 30 minutes for the product to set in the fridge.

As soon as the brownie is set, I cut it into slices and store it in the fridge in a covered container, so we can grab a piece whenever we feel like one. You can easily keep these brownies for four days.

Modifying the ingredients, such as replacing sugar with dates, makes no-bake brownies a little healthier.

The brownies are flavored and textured differently because of the dates, but their sweetness and brownie richness remain the same. Online you can find a healthier version of no-bake brownies.

Due to the lack of flour used in no-bake recipes, the brownies come out wonderfully chewy.

Final Words

I’m sure you’ve been in this situation before. You’re craving a brownie, but you don’t have an oven. Don’t fret! These brownies are made in the microwave, or other methods explained above and taste just as good as the oven-baked variety.
